Once again, Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) is bucking the trend and doing great things. Guarantee Trust Bank (GTB) has a long history of innovation and trend-setting and recently, it just added to that list. GTB is giving its customers a unique privilege. On January 30, 2018, the bank would give customers the honour of speaking with its CEO, Segun Agbaje. And guess what, the call is completely free.

That’s right!

You can make the call by dialling 08000005000 on your mobile phone, or you can simply dial 5000 from select GTB branches across Nigeria.

This privilege will only be available for two hours, between 10 am and 12 pm on January 30, 2018. During that time you can make calls to the designated number and ask the CEO just about anything!

This move is once again a really smart customer relations tactic that GTB uses to retain its customers and keep them excited.

GTB and its history of Innovation

Let’s face it, Nigerian banks are the not the very very innovative.  A lot of them struggle a lot to provide unique services for their customers and find it very difficult to think outside the box. Yet Guarantee Trust Bank has consistently broken from this tradition (your time will come, Wema!).

For a long time now, GTB has blurred the line between providing banking services and being a lifestyle influencer. It’s no wonder that the bank appeals largely to the young!

Here is a list of a few innovations and creative exercises the Bank has given to us in recent times.

GTB Food and Drinks: This is an annual food exhibition and sales event that showcases the diversity of cultures and food extravaganza. It also helps connect food entrepreneurs to new audiences of delicacy lovers. The event holds for two days. It was first held in 2016 and again on 30 April-1 May 2017.

GTB Fashion: A consumer-focused fashion exhibition and capacity building event that aims to promote enterprise within the fast-growing Nigerian fashion industry. It was first held in November 2016, again in November 2017.

GTB PATRIOT: This is a unique salary account package which offers Nigeria’s service personnel subsidized banking products and dedicated value-added services.

It targets military and paramilitary personnel, allowing them to open accounts with a zero-minimum balance. It also provides them with a current account, with reduced maintenance fees, and greater access to loans.

GTB *737#: This is GTB’s very own USSD mobile banking system. With it you can open an account, transfer funds, pay bills, buy airtime or data, and get access to some other in-branch banking services all on your mobile phone. Also, no internet is required, just dial *737* and you are good to go.

GTWORLD: a unique banking app that is designed to cater to all that’ This basically the same as the normal GTB banking app, but comes with an added feature for security: biometric authentication. This was released last year on the Android and Apple Stores and now has over 500,000 downloads.

GTCOIN: GTCoin could be GTB’s very own digital currency in the future. But for now, GTCoins are points you earn as a customer when you make transactions on GTB’s e-platforms. You cannot, however, convert the coins to cash or exchange with any third party. Presently, you can only use it to redeem deals offered by the bank. But with the digitization of currency, it may just be converted to a virtual currency like Bitcoin, who knows?
