Guaranty Trust Bank PLC (GTBank) has won 3 awards at the EMEA Finance Awards, 2017. The awards are the Best Bank in Nigeria, Best Bank for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Africa, and the Bank’s Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Segun Agbaje got the award for the CEO of the Year.
The awards ceremony was organized by EMEA Finance, leading bimonthly global industry publication, known for reporting major financial achievements and events from international financial industries, in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

According to the Chronicles, EMEA gave the award to the bank after taking into consideration its market strength, profitability, growth and earning. It also considered the bank’s potential and quality of the management. The organizers noted that GTBank established its industry leadership with its 238 branches within Nigeria and has banking subsidiaries in Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Cote D’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and the United Kingdom.

This is the second time Mr Segun Agbaje will be winning the CEO of the year award. He clinched his first in 2013 and he makes history as the first CEO to have won the award twice.
According to Christopher Moore, Publisher and Chief Executive of EMEA Finance Magazine: “In recent years, GTBank has attracted laudable accolades for its efforts in growing local communities through key interventions for SMEs in the Fashion and Food industry.

Despite a few expression of discontent s from some of its customers, GTBank has achieved great strides and has shown its relevance in the country’s economy through its events, Apps and other innovative CSR initiatives.

Some of such events and initiatives are the Fashion Weekend, which includes shopping, a master class for fashion entrepreneurs, and a runway show, the Food and Drink Fair, which pulls international and Nigerian chefs to exhibit culinary talents, and also involves wine tasting, the SME MarkeHub which is a safe e-commerce platform where buyers and sellers meet. Its CSR initiative involves the renovation of libraries, and its mobile apps have made its services the most flexible.
