The scheme is being supported by Mr Jim Ovia, Chairman, Zenith Bank Plc.
The President of the NCS, Prof Sola Aderounmu declared that the body is grateful to Mr Ovia for the philanthropic gesture. “The entire NCS membership is grateful for his kind, noble and generous heart”, he said.

The scholarship is open only to Members of Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Nigerian Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) at the undergraduate, postgraduate levels as well as research fellows. According to the society, the fund will be used to provide educational scholarships and sponsorship to attend conferences/workshops as well as support for high impact research. Just like 2016, awards will go to 35 students studying tech & related courses in Nigerian Universities.
Award Categories
- The Scholarship and Sponsorship awards are categorised into the following groups
- Undergraduate: Maximum Period Per Awardee of 5 years
- Postgraduate (M.Sc; PhD): Maximum Period Per Awardee of 2 years (M. Sc) and 4 years (PhD)
- Conference and Workshop Attendance (Local and International): Onetime payment
Other Considerations include:
- Research grant can be provided to an existing beneficiary for more than two (2) years in special cases.
- The Grant is based on the relevance of the research to technology development.
- The Award/Grant is expected to be channelled towards Tuition, accommodation, books, and research materials
- The Scholarship/Awards/Grant is based on your activities/visibility at local chapter and national levels of the Society.
- The Award is a one-time opportunity during a course of study.
