As usual, there was no dulling moment in the social media space. Below are the 5 selected events through out the week.

1. #AnambraDecides

Ndi Anambra decided their future this week after voting the All Progressives Grand Alliance’s candidate and the incumbent governor of the state, Governor Willian Obiano. Obiano was declared the winner by INEC having won the largest vote in the 21 local governments.

One funny and memorable event at the poll is the allegation levelled against Gov. Obiano. He was alleged of addressing the electorate when the INEC’s card reader failed to identify his fingers. This, according to analysts, is against Electoral rules.

2.  #YakubuAiyegbeni:

In the world of sports, the retirement of former Super Eagles and Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni also surprised the social media space.  Yakubu who scored 21 goals for super eagles retired at the football age of 35 years old.

One major thing Nigerians may not forgive Yakubu for is his world cup goal miss at the 2010 World Cup that saw Nigeria packing. Former Super Eagles, Boro, Portsmouth & Everton striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni has retired from football at 35. He retires as Nigeria’s 3rd highest scorer.

3. Mugabe’s Retirement

The Mugabe’s story continues this week. The alleged coup plot by the military couples with external forces saw President Mugabe resigned with some conditions stated in his letter. Following his resignation, Emmerson Mnangagwa was sworn in as Zimbabwe’s president today.

One thing we will keep on our left hand about Mugabe’s issue is Mugabe and his wife immunity from prosecution.

4.  Mubi’s Bomb Blast

We thought we are done with this dreadful sect in Nigeria. But this week, Boko Haram carried out a horrible attack in Adamawa state. A suicide bomber attacked a Mosque during early morning prayer killing at least 30 Muslims in Mubi.

May their sous rest in peace.
