Agricultural commodity trading platform, Farmties has led the pack of winners at the She Leads Africa (SLA) accelerator Demo Day held in Lagos.

Farmties led the pack of the last 3 contestants with Tǽillὸ, a Nigerian Furniture Brand startup, coming second and Greymate Care, a startup that provides quality home care for the elderly and disabled, taking the second runner-up place. The selection was made by a panel of judges after a pitching session which was followed some brief interrogation.

Farmties received a 2 million Naira (US$5,540) prize as the winner, Taeillo carted home the 1st runner-up prize of 1 million Naira (US$2,770) and Greymate Care received the third place prize of 500,000 Naira (US$1,385).

The She Leads Africa Demo Day took place two days ago. It was the culmination of a three-month accelerator programme organized in partnership with the ‘Work in Progress Alliance’, OCP, Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB), Cointreau and Intel. According to the organizers, the event was designed to identify, support and fund the next generation of Nigeria’s brightest entrepreneurs.

According to Venture Capital for Africa, applications were received from over 200 startups from across Nigeria. 20 entrepreneurs were selected based on the evaluation of their traction in the market, management team and vision to grow and scale across Africa to participate in the accelerator programme which held in Lagos, Abuja and Kaduna.
