Victor Okigbo, head, Africa FinTech Foundry(AFF), said in a press conference that the Conference was designed to precede the main launch of the Foundry. According to him, a list of activities has been lined up to take place at the conference. These include master classes on entrepreneurship technology, enterprise design and the AFF Innovation Tour. He also revealed that the AFF is in partnership with IBM, Microsoft, Systemic Logic, Kantar TNS, SAS and Access bank.

Adekele Adekoya, the Event Coordinator for the #AFFDisrupt2017 conference, said that AFF seeks to create new opportunities in sub-Saharan Africa by providing a platform designed to inspire and challenge African Innovators and entrepreneurs.

“We want to engage with startups in all the locations we visit. This is a very good opportunity for startups to take advantage of the partner network created by AFF disrupt and its partners to create linkages and networks that can help grow their businesses,” he said.

AFF Accelerator Programme

The programme is targeted at equipping 12 with benefits that will enable them to scale to become world-class outfits. The selected Fintech Startups will have access to world-class mentors, seed investor, access to office spaces and a host of other benefits which include hosting, marketing, legal and financial services.

The AFF Accelerator program is a 17 week and the vetting process is currently ongoing. A total number of 12 start-ups will be selected from a pool of about 400 start-ups. These will demo at the AFF Disrupt 2017 conference in Lagos.

This a commendable move in many estimations. One will only hope that more disrupters stem from this venture in the near future. You can apply for the AFF Accelerator Programme here
