New Gmail Feature Allows You Click Phone Numbers and Email Address

Google is finally rolling out a new feature on Gmail which will automatically change information like addresses, email addresses and phone numbers to clickable links which will lead users to default applications. The idea is that instead of copying and pasting information details can now be used directly.

This is how it works: from Gmail, you will be redirected to Google Maps when you click on a clickable address. When you click on an email address, your app begins to compose a new email with your default email address. And only on smartphones, mobile phone numbers will be dialled with your default dialer when you click on a highlighted mobile number.

In a blog post, Google revealed that this feature was introduced to save time and improve the ease of use for Gmail users.

According to them: “Gmail users often exchange information like addresses and phone numbers with each other to set up meetings, introduce colleagues, and plan events. Precious time can be lost by having to copy and paste this information from an email into other apps and websites, so we wanted to provide a better way to perform these tasks that also saves time. That’s why starting today, Gmail and Inbox by Gmail on Android, iOS, and the web will begin converting text to interactive hyperlinks whenever they detect phone numbers, addresses, and email addresses in emails.”

This is another move by Google to make lives a little easier, by improving the ease of use. Google keeps introducing new features with intentions to make the user experience easy, and that is one reason they rule.

This feature is long overdue and we are sure it will be welcomed with open arms by Gmail users. The full rollout is expected to take three days for all the users around the globe. We are waiting.
