New Cab-Hailing App, Holla Cab Set to Launch in Lagos, Offers Free Rides

New Cab-Hailing App, Holla Cab Set to Launch in Lagos, Offers Free Rides

An on-demand cab hailing app, Holla Cab, is set to launch its services in Lagos in a few weeks to come. According to the owners, Holla cab will offer free rides for commuters in Lagos during launch. The newest start-up has been founded by Edward Essien, Ken Nwogbo and Charles Okoronkwo.

Holla App is set to compete in a saturated market. Other players in the space include popular names such as Uber, Taxify, Oga Taxi and not so popular names such as SmartCab, Saytaxi, Red Cab, MyCabMan and Afro. But the owners are promising a new experience as a differentiator. According to them, the riders will be able to track their request after ordering with this app, coupled with a number of feel-good experiences.

The plan is to roll out first in Lagos, then the other major Nigerian cities are set to be covered by the first quarter of 2018.

Edward Essien, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Holla Cab Services in Nigeria, revealed that the innovation was developed with both the riders and the driving partners in mind, boasting that Nigerians would soon be able to enjoy affordable, safe and easily available taxi rides on demand. He believes that the invention would change the face of Taxi Hailing Services in Africa. We all wait to see the change.

Armed with being a firm by Nigerians and for Nigerians, this is expected to be a competition for Uber and other ride hailing firms, to contend with in Nigeria, especially since experts have predicted the death of such services due to their focus on profits alone, instead of customer service, and lack of loyalty on the part of the drivers.

With over 85 cognate years of world best practices, Mr Essien is sure that this app will put a smile on the face of both riders and drivers, thereby meeting the vision of the company to empower the drivers, while providing clean, reliable and cost effective safe rides for the riders.
